The waters available to club members are hidden gems and provide variety for the course angler.
If you want to stalk chub in the summer, the River Rother at Stedham Bridge is the place to go. Alternatively Wispers Pond provide some lovely wild carp.

Wispers Pond

Brief description of fishery:
A chocolate box setting, amongst trees and rhododendrons, this jewel in the landscape continually produces superb pleasure catches and can provide high weights during competitions. Although this venue is dominated by the main pond, some 30 swims, there is a smaller pond with a few pegs. The species you will catch in both ponds include Carp to mid-teens, Bream to 5lb, Chub to 3lb, Crucian Carp, Rudd, Roach, Perch and Eels.
 
Fishery rules:
1. Fishing permitted between the 14th April and the 14th March.
2. Strictly no keepnets to be used between the 14th April and 15th June.
3. A minimum of two keepnets can be used between the 16th June and the 14th March, but they both must be at least 8’ long and 1’6’’ diameter wide across the bottom ring. One must be used solely for Carp and the other for silverfish.
4. Fishing only permitted from marked swims.
5. Maximum line strength of 10lb with a lower hook length required.
6. Micro barbed or barbless hooks up to size 18 may be used.
7. Barbless hooks between size 16 and 6 must be used.
8. No braided main line or hook lengths.
9. No fixed feeders or fixed leads.
10. The following baits are banned: boilies, tiger nuts, maples and chick peas
11. Groundbait and/or pellet limit of 2kg combined per day per angler.
12. Sweetcorn and luncheon meat limit of 500g combined per day per angler.
13. No cutting or loping of trees. Members must keep to pathways at all times.
14. The gate near the car park must be kept closed at all time.
15. All litter and discarded fishing tackle must be removed from the fishery even it’s not yours.
16. No dogs, fires or radios.
17. No fish may be removed, introduced or transferred between ponds.

Heyshott Pond

Brief description of fishery:
This water is set in beautiful surroundings overlooking fields and the South Downs. The pond is around an acre in size and has an average depth of about 2 feet. It is full of smaller fish with plenty of Carp, Roach and Rudd. Pleasure catches to date have seen weights over 20lb and there is a lot of potential. As with all new waters the club would love to hear how you get on so please contact me with your catch report.

1. Fishing permitted all year round.
2. A minimum of two keepnets must be used. One for carp and one for other species.
3. Fishing only permitted from cleared swims.
4. Maximum line strength of 10lb with a lower hook length required.

17. The pond and surrounding area is out of bounds between 10.00pm and 6.00am.

River Rother - Stedham Bridge

Brief description of fishery:
A selection of over 50 swims affording some fantastic river fishing for a number of species which include Chub to 6lb, Pike to 20lb, Perch, Roach, Rudd, Dace, Grayling, Gudgeon, Minnows, Bullhead, Eels and the occasional Carp and Bream.
 
Fishery rules:
1. Fishing permitted between the 16th June and the 14th March.
2. Keepnets can be used but must be at least 8’ long and 1’6’’ diameter wide across the bottom ring.
3. All forms of trout fishing are banned at all times.
4.  The following baits are banned: tiger nuts, maples and chick peas.
5. Boilies are permitted but are limited to 1kg per day per angler.
6. No cutting or loping of trees. Members must keep to pathways/ bankside at all times.
7. The gate opposite Bridgefoot Cottages at Stedham Bridge must be used to head upstream and must be closed at all times.
8. Fishing is not permitted from the south back of the river between the bridge and coppice.
9. All litter and discarded fishing tackle must be removed from the fishery even it’s not yours.
10. No dogs, fires or radios.
11. No fish may be removed or introduced.
12. On match days (as listed in the match fixtures or monthly updates for league matches) the water will be closed before the match draw time and two hours after the finish time.
13. The river and surrounding area is out of bounds between 12.00am and 5.00am.

Access is strictly from the Stedham Bridge car park located on the north bank (OS ref: SU863227) with fishing only on the north bank from Stedham Mill up to the wooded section some ½ mile from Stedham Bridge.

Membership & Tickets

The Annual Subscription will be due on the 15th of  April of each year and last for one calendar year, or in the event of a member joining part way through the year, the remainder of the calendar year. Members will not be able to fish until they have renewed their membership.
 
Members who do not renew their subscriptions  before June 16th of the New Season will be deemed to have relinquished their membership and must therefore re-apply and the joining fee will then also apply.
 
The joining fee is a one off payment as long as the membership is renewed at the appropriate time.    
 
Junior members are those who hold a junior E.A rod licence on the date of application    
 
Payment – We accept payment by credit or debit card, Direct Debit, Cheques (Membership Books Issued once funds have cleared) or cash paid to subscriptions Secretary.    
Your Membership book will arrive by post unless an arrangement  to collect from a committee member has been discussed.
 
Membership Catagories:
  • Full Senior member: Those aged 16 to 64 on 16th June.
  • O.A.P Senior Member: Aged 65+ on the 16th June.
  • Junior Member: Under 16 on 16th June.
  • Non Fishing Member
 
Membership shall be at the discretion of the Committee and all members must be in possession of a current Environment Agency Rod Licence, when fishing club waters.
 
Exchange Tickets
The club have exchange tickets available to members for Rudgwick Angling Club and Petersfield & District Angling Club for the season. Please contact K Symonds: T: 07983 608432.
 
Free To Members but only once a season each ticket per member. We only have 3 exhange books  Available for Rudgewick and 3 Books For Petersfield and district.
